TRANSFER ROLLER CLEANING & DE-SENSITIZING

In an ongoing effort to support your roller needs, the following is a procedure for the proper cleaning of your chrome transfer rollers.

If a chrome roll becomes sensitive to ink or becomes dirty, remove the roller and scrub with magnesium oxide powder (Comet cleanser). Flush the roller with water. Mix a solution of one part 85% phosphoric acid to three parts water. Make sure this solution coats the entire roller. Let it stand for 5 minutes, flush with water and while the roller is still wet, apply a thin film of gum arabic. (Gum arabic keeps the chrome from oxidizing.)

If this procedure does not work, the surface of your roller may not be as smooth as necessary to adequately transfer water (it is no longer hydrophilic). At this point, it may be time to evaluate if the roller should be returned to Hadronics for refurbishing. Please click the Contact Us tab at the top of the screen or any of the links to get in touch with Hadronics.
